I got a rejection for "Old Friends". Actually they dissected the story opening, which is not a bad thing - when I get over the usual rejection part of the thing it will probably be quite useful! One of the editors really liked it though, which is good. The rest of them hated it!

Still. Boo, hiss. :D

I've got a new phrase = "rejection mourning"

Back to work on the novel.

I like rejection mourning, it's exactly how it feels. Maybe the next market? Or are you planning to rewrite/look at/think about for a bit?

It always seems as if these things, when editors take time like this, that it's a two-edged sword. Someone cares enough to say something, but now what do you do with it? I never know for sure, but don't overreact or rejection mourn for too long, that's all I'm saying :)

Hang in there, next story! Onward, ho. Or Ho Ho, come to that ;D

I will give it a rework I expect. I'm stuck well into the first draft of the new novel at the moment so I will probably push the story to the back burner for now. I really want to get this finished and then find the where-with-all to rewrite once I can put To Regain Heaven aside for a bit.

Anyway, that's the plan for now.

:D

I get rejection apathy (otherwise translated as "Can't win, why try?"). I haven't had enough out in the world to suffer from mourning yet. No doubt my time will come!

Good luck with it wherever you send it next. :-)
