I have one novel, six stories and two poems out there and I am hearing nothing. Nada. Zilch!  Some of them have been out for what I would class a very long time (to the one market that is). Like, since last year! Others have been in and out like nobody's business of late.

What's happening?

Ok, the novel doesn't count because that's recent and so is Old Friends. But the others?

*sigh*

Did I mention that I am not a patient person?

hopefully they're being considered!

But I think summers usually are a little doo-lally, as people are on vacations and stuff, so things get delayed. Hang in there! And I've got my fingers crossed for you that you'll be getting acceptances soon.

Thanks.

Don't mind me. I'm just in a snit about it.

If you are not a patient person, and you want to be a writer, I'm afraid you're going to have to learn patience.

I have nineteen stories out at the moment, three of which were sent out last year, another two in January. I think the average time out per current submission is 96 days - more than three months. Definitely the highest it's ever been.

This month is just being extremely quiet - I've only had two responses (yes, both rejections) so far this month (by contrast, 12 rejections in June, 6 rejections and 2 sales in May, 9 rejections in April, 15 rejections in March...). I have no idea why.

Yes. It takes a long time. That should have read "I am not always a patient person". It's just wierd this year and this summer in particular.

I was really wondering why. Has something changed or am I just noticing it more as I have more pieces out there than last year.

Patience.

No news is good news, and I've heard of publishers as being notoriously slow.

It'll happen...
